Hey all you guys and gals!
I'm up for doing my first Reader Challenge. So for all you Pinterest junkies out there, like myself, comment below with a pin you'd like to see me attempt. Keep it fun and interesting - and realistic, too, please. Not sure if I could pull off a second story make-over with a one story house, if you know what I'm sayin'. =)
I'm thankful for all the interest, love, and support. Keep those ideas coming!! For all my teacher friends, I might dive into my 20 something teaching boards I have to prep for the final quarter of the year!
Thanks and look out for today's post to come out later tonight.
Peace.
A Pin A Day and Maybe More
Join me on my quest to conquer my Pinterest addiction by not just pinning, but to actually make something of it! I'm also looking forward to seeing if these "pins" actually work!

Must. Have. Bacon.
So I've pretty much been on the bacon kick ever since going "paleo". Now before you say anything about blood pressure, cholesterol, and fat and all of that, let me tell you I've been to my doctor, got some blood work done, and found that my levels in all those areas are pretty darn good. I'll get it checked out in a couple of years again to see how my body is doing.
That being said, today's pin is all about bacon. Bacon, cheese, and eggs. Now how can you go wrong with that?

Fun with Chalk
Today's pin would seem like a no brainer. I've got three kids. I've got sidewalk chalk. I've got a nice driveway. You would think that it wouldn't have to take someone else posting this to get me going, but it did.
Here's a link to today's pin of the day.
Normally the kids use the chalk for writing and drawing on the easel. Occasionally they draw on the ground. Today, with mom's prompting, we built a racetrack (complete with obstacles and "coins" to collect), hopscotch game, and body outlines. At first the kids were surprised at mom's actions, wondering what in the world I was up to. After a whole their imaginations kicked into gear and they were creating things of their own.
All in all, a fun afternoon for all. Even for the little one, who spent most of the time napping. ;-)

And the first pin goes to...
Easy Mocha Pudding
Okay, here it goes. I'm thinking I'm going to modify this a bit since I'm not a coffee person - and neither are my kids. So with omitting the instant coffee (even though surprisingly I have some), let's see how this tastes.
Here's the recipe:
1 container of plain Greek yogurt
2 spoonfuls of unsweetened cocoa powder
1 spoonful of instant coffee (omitting)
sweetener to taste
a few drops of vanilla extract
Stir everything together and enjoy!

Right off the bat, simple ingredients, but mixing cocoa powder with greek yogurt is not an easy task in a small bowl. Cocoa powder flying everywhere!!!
Secondly, the initial mix came out pretty bitter. Was a no go for all three kids. Added some turbinado sugar, but in trying to keep it paleo, changed it to a teaspoon of maple syrup. The older two still don't like it, but the little one is begging me for more!
Final verdict: 3 out of 5 stars. Easy to make. Gritty texture. Too bitter/sour without lots of sweetener - defeating the purpose of a healthy snack.
Suggestions for next time: Maybe going to add a mashed banana to the mix.
Spring Break is Here and the Quest Begins!
I admit it. I'm a Pinterest addict. At this point, I think I have over 1700 pins. Most of it has to do with my job: I'm a teacher. But I also pinned a great deal of ideas to help organize my home, crafts for the kids, and not to mention, sinfully delicious recipes that I've been dying to try.
So here we are on the first day of spring break 2013 and I've decided to actually apply some of those fabulous pins. What better time than in these two weeks I have with my 3 little (well, one not-so-little) monkeys in tow. I've declared this my
Not sure how it will play out, but if I can hold myself to this goal, this challenge, this journey, then, well, Pinterest will no longer be just a place of dreams, but a place where my dreams had come true. That's the idea. Now to make it a reality, I've got to make my plan.
So excuse me while I choose from the 1700+ wonderful ideas of others. If you'd like, you can check out my boards and suggest any challenges you want to see me take on in the comments below! I WILL do a couple of "reader challenges" throughout these two weeks, so sound off!
